The West Virginia Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association (AWMA) is pleased to announce a one day LRS Training Workshop in which LRS’s can obtain their 5.5 PDHs needed towards your LRS renewal requirements. The LRS Training Workshop will be held Tuesday, Sept 13 at the Mountain Health Arena. The 2022 West Virginia Brownfields Conference will be held the following two days, on Wednesday & Thursday, September 14th & 15th, at the same venue.
7:30 AM – 8:00 AM Registration and Breakfast
8:00 AM – 8:45 AM Conceptual Site Models
Speaker: Elizabeth Stas, P.E., Environmental Engineer – Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc.
Elizabeth Stas will present the process of developing a Conceptual Site Model (CSM). She will discuss the Preliminary CSM, Refined CSM, and the Risk CSM. She will also present two case studies to illustrate how the CSMs evolved with each project and discuss how the process has helped expedite VRP projects.
8:45 AM – 9:45 AM Groundwater Modeling Case Study
Speaker: Nick Wolfe, P.G., Eastern Regional Manager – Triad Engineering, Inc.
Nick Wolfe will present various groundwater modeling tools and applications for VRP sites including Bioscreen, Surfer, Modflow, AQTESOLV, Moundsolv, Water Balancing, etc. He will also present details for a completed project.

10 AM – 11:00 AM QAPrP and SOPs – WVDEP
Speaker: Ross Brittain, PhD, Environmental Toxicologist and Quality Assurance Manager – WVDEP-OER
Ross Brittain will present an overview of the significant changes to the OER Brownfields Quality Assurance Program Plan and Field SOPs, including the development of six new SOPs.
11 AM – 12:00 PM MNA Guidance – WVDEP
Speakers: Ross Brittain, PhD, Environmental Toxicologist and Quality Assurance Manager – WVDEP-OER
Dave Long, Environmental Resource Analyst – WVDEP-OER
Erin Brittain, Brownfields Program Manager – WVDEP-OER
WVDEP staff will outline the format and general requirements of the newly developed Natural Attenuation Guidance. This session will focus on just the general requirements for demonstrating natural attenuation.

WVDEP staff will highlight the significant changes to the VRP Guidance Manual that were just implemented in September 2022. This will be high-level review of critical updates with opportunities for more detailed training sessions to come in the future.
The LRS Training Workshop fee includes a one-year membership to AWMA, breakfast, and lunch.
Fees: $315 for AWMA members, $375 for non members.

In order for an LRS attendee to receive educational credit for license renewal, he or she must register and attend the entire day. The training has been approved by the WVDEP for 5.5 PDHs.
